It is essential that people are invited to offer their opinions, comments and suggestions about the changes and the processes that affect them. It is also essential that you do this before a detailed change plan is drawn up or they will feel, quite rightly, that their suggestions are not really being considered. Have an idea of timescales and main steps to take but nothing concrete. People need to feel welcome to ask questions and be given the opportunity to do so openly; have questions explored and answered as fully as possible. They may have a different perspective which is equally valid, have some good ideas and, if you are genuinely open-minded, these will affect the way you do things. You can also gauge where certain aspects of the change process will cause most concern.
